Margo Chevers, motivational speaker and professional development coach, discovered her tumor shortly after getting custody of her granddaughters aged 6 and 7. It was diagnosed as a rare cancer, gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) in 2006 after surgery to remove an undiagnosed tumor revealed a 17.5 cm GIST on her lower stomach. Despite her diagnosis, Margo was determined to keep living her life. “My mindset is that of a healthy person. I have cancer, but I am not sick,” she says. Today, Margo works with her healthcare team to manage her disease. Margo, you inspire me! (If you miss this show, it will be rebroadcast Saturday, April 21st at 5:00 p.m. EST on W4WN.)
